Happy Birthday Little One

Today my little one will be two, I can describe you the happiness I feel knowing that he is healthy, happy and ready to discover anything new. But his birthday is always bitter-sweet, my mum passed away on a 28th too, and she will never be there on one of my little ones birthday.
I read everywhere about Cancer research, new trials and survive percentages, but you know, any of this matters if you have symptoms and don't go to the doctor. I am not telling going every week, but at least if you have something that it's not normal in your body, check it, if my mum had gone to the doctor before, she would still be here.
I am not writing this post to conscience about Cancer, I am sure we all have someone loved that has passed away with this illness and know how dangerous it is not being treated, simply, to remember that if you don't get treat your family and friends will miss you very much.
So, happy birthday little man...  mum, I miss you so much!

Rating: 4'5/5

The Inaugural Meeting of the Fairvale Ladies Book Club is not simply a book about a meeting, is how a "simple" book could change the life of a person. The Northern Territory seems a difficult place to live, so our five strong women decide to create a book club to make easy to cope with the isolation, harsh climate and solitude. But as the book club progresses their friendship deepens and goes stronger, full of happiness and sadness, like life.
It was quite original reading events of all the years that the book club was active, it's always nice to learn some historical events!
This is a book to enjoy, not only because it's a great read but how they talk about books and make you think how really a book can affect your mood or your thoughts, this book will make you happy and sad, but it will be with you for a long time.
Ready for the meeting?

Febrer - Català; Ara i Sempre

So, can you guess the name of this month in Catalan?
I have to say that it's quite similar, in Catalan is shorter, but almost the same...
So is it called Febrer! /fɛbreː/

Yes, Febrer, you have to admit that it's not much different as February!
Here is a popular quotation of February...

Febrer febreret, set capes i un barret.
February, February, seven layers and one hat.

Another popular quotation talking about cold, it's quite funny how when I was living there I thought it was so cold!

The source of the Quotation is CCMA.

Some cute Kawaii pets by Sahua Design...

Vortecon, A Kinetic Desk Toy

It seems that the spinning toys are a must these days, there are a lot of forms and designs that promise to keep you entertain for a long time, but you have not seen Vortecom, it's mesmeraising and so funny to spin! It's made with metal and leather...

Here are the detailed characteristics (just to take a look if you are curious)...

I love the gadget, but like almost all of them I found it a little bit expensive... what do you think? Would you pay £31 for one?

Gener - Català; Ara i Sempre

As you have seen I may not be a very good teacher, because I should have started with the months of the year instead of some aleatory words, don't you think?
So, for the next 3 days I'll share with you the name of three months, the passed one, the one we are in and the new one, of course!
So the first one, is... Gener! /dʒəneː/

Yes, Gener is January, they don't have much in common...!
Here is a popular quotation of January...

Al Gener, tanca la porta i obre el braser!

On January, close the door and open the fire!

In Catalonia, January is a cold month, but nothing to compare to UK or Ireland! ;)

The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare - Blog Tour

The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare
Genre: Romance
Source: Mills & Boon
Rating: 4'5/5

This is not a romance novel, because the Duke of Ashbury and Emma Gladstone don't marry to fall in love, they are just following the rules they put on their contract when they decided to get married. Have a son on one side on the other have a civilized dinner every day with a little talk... seems easy isn't it? If they follow the rules love will never have a space in their agreed marriage... or is what they think... Ready for the deal?

"Emma Gladstone had learned a few hard lessons by the age of two-and-twenty.
Charming princess weren't always what they seemed. Shining armor went out of fashion with the Crusades. And if fairy godmothers existed, her was running several years late.
Most of the time, a girl needed to rescue herself.
This afternoon was one of those times."

Let me say that I had so much fun reading this book! The verbal fights between Emma and Ash are hilarious, really sometimes I almost cried for so much laugh!
This book is about love, redemption and acceptance, easy to say, more difficult to accept. Emma and Ash have their own baggage, and if they want this marriage to succeed they have to be trustworthy between each other apart of accepting their faults, of course. It will not be easy, both of them had lost the things they thought were the most important of their lives, so they will have to learn to respect and trust someone..
The only thing that I didn’t like very much was that it seems that even if Emma loves to know what Ash does in his every day routines and respect all of their weird hobbies, he can not accept that she is really good sewing and creating dresses, he should learn some respect to Emma and her desires and dreams.
I have to admit that it was not just the main story that was interesting, there are a few secondary characters that stole my heart, and I hope we will see them on a next book! Can we be updated too on Emma and Ash? I am sure they will have much more to say...!
I can assure you that if you start reading this book you will fall in love with Emma and Ash, their love story is unique and enchanting!
Ready to be the Duchess?

Here is a little extract to tempt you...

Her hands went to the side of the gown. She began to release a row of hooks hidden in the bodice seam. One by one by one. As the bodice went slack, her squeezed breasts relaxed to their natural fullness. The sleeve fell off her shoulder, revealing the tissue-thin fabric of her shift.
A wisp of dark hair tumbled free, kissing her collarbone.
Jesu Maria.
“Stop.”
She froze and looked up. “Stop?”
He cursed silently. Don’t ask me twice. “Stop.”
Ash could scarcely believe he’d managed the decency to say it once. He’d been on the verge of a private show for the price of two pounds, three. Significantly higher than the going rate, but a bargain when the girl was this pretty.
Not to mention, she was a vicar’s daughter. He’d always dreamed of debauching a vicar’s daughter. Really, what man hadn’t? However, he was not quite so diabolical as to accomplish it through extortion.
A thought occurred to him. Maybe—just maybe—he could still manage that fantasy, through different, somewhat less fiendish, means. He regarded Emma Gladstone from a fresh angle, thinking of that list of requirements in his interrupted letter.
She was young and healthy. She was educated. She came from gentry, and she was willing to disrobe in front of him.
Most importantly, she was desperate.
She’d do.
In fact, she’d do very well indeed.
“Here is your choice, Miss Gladstone. I can pay you the two pounds, three shillings.”
He placed the stack of coins on the desk. She stared at them hungrily.
“Or,” he said, “I can make you a duchess.”

Reading a book full of sweet pets is always a pleasure, but if it has murder and quite interesting characters, you have a complete book, don't you think?

'I loved animals, and I´d taken care of everything from pythons to tarantulas, but something about rats spooked me, as Piper knew all too well. She grinned at me. "You look awfully taken aback, for somebody who often quotes the Dalai Lama about the importance of loving all creatures."'

Daphne Templeton is planning to open a bakery for pets, but, while she is preparing everything she spends her time and energy discovering killers, with the help of her loved pets, of course! ;)
I have to say this was an enjoyable read, approachable characters, a victim with a long list of possible killers and some really cute animals that will make melt your heart.
This book was interesting not just for the murder, but to show us how in a small community everyone tries to help, even when you say that you have seen a dog ghost and no one really believes you...! But a part from that we had a quite interesting love triangle, between two different men but with some secrets from their part... would Daphne have the patience to discover them?
This is the third book of the Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery, but you can read it as standalone, let me tell you a secret, after reading this one you will be addicted to Daphne mysteries...
Ready for a case full of cuteness?

Interested? Good luck in the Giveaway!

Pluja - Català; Ara i Sempre

Today I will show you a word that we use quite often here in Ireland, because you know the weather here is quite crazy, don't you? So, today's word is "Pluja" /'plʊdʒæ/

Can you guess what Pluja means? Oh yes, rain! Or you can say too; water that is condensed from the vapour in the atmosphere and falls to earth in drops.

The part of the poem I decided to share with you today with the word "Pluja" is from a singer-songwriter very famous in Catalonia called Raimon; Al meu país la Pluja. If you want you can take a look at the video too, is really beautiful. I have to say that the weather in Catalonia is not the same as here, there when it rains it storms with heavy drops, here, is light but it can last for days.

Al meu país la pluja - Raimon               In my country the rain - Raimon

Al meu país la pluja no sap ploure:               In my country the rain doesn't know how to rain:
o plou poc o plou massa;               or it rains a little or it rains too much;
si plou poc és la sequera,               if it rains little is it the drought,
si plou massa és un desastre.               if it rains too much is a disaster
Qui portarà la pluja a escola?               Who will take the rain to school?
Qui li dirà com s'ha de ploure?               Who will tell how to rain?
Al meu país la pluja no sap ploure.               In my country the rain doesn't know how to rain.

Killed by Thomas Enger - Blog Tour

Killed by Thomas Enger
Genre: Crime Noir
Source: Orenda Books
Rating: 4/5

This is the ending, the last piece of the Henning Juul story and how he risked his life again and again to discover the truth about his son's death. Ready?

"During the last few hours everything had changed. And now, he was reconciled to his fate. He was convinced he could now die satisfied. His quest was over. He finally had the answers he'd been looking for. "

In this tense crime noir book we will learn that Henning Juul can not trust anyone, every time he shares his discoveries someone appears dead, so he will try to protect his loved ones no matter what, even if he has to die. In this book, Henning starts grieving the death of his son, he wants answers but we will feel that he is starting to heal about the guilty and the sadness of loosing a child so young. And in the end he is not searching for vengeance, simply the truth.
This had been a dark read, not only for all the crime and conflicts that we read in the book, but the feelings that moves inside you; we read about people without conscience, that if they have money nothing more matters, but at the same time some normal people like you or me that when their family is being threatened they resign their moral. I can just wonder what I would do in those cases, but I would like to think I would go to the police instead of selling my conscience.
The story is told by multiple perspectives, making the story more real and easy to follow, let me say that I will miss them, but this is a great ending, a must read.
I don't want to say too much about the plot, simply that this is a non-stop crime book, perfect for any book reader, but start from the first book! ;)

White Bodies by Jane Robins

White Bodies by Jane Robins
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Source: NetGalley
Rating: 4'5/5

This is the story of Callie Farrow and her sister Tilda Farrow. Obsession, murder, abuse and a twisted plot that will make this book an exceptional read.

"Acting instinctively, I lean over and pull her silk Givenchy sleeve right up to her elbow, exposing white skin splattered with yellow and blue bruises, little smudged ink-blots.
I grab her arm to inspect it more closely/
'Stop that!' she says. 'For fuck's sake!'
'Tilda! What's going on? Please tell me.'
She pushes me away, hard, making me crash into the kitchen counter, and pulling her sleeve back down. She runs into the bedroom, then the en-suite bathroom, slamming the door, turning the lock."

This book made an exceptional change from the beginning till the last pages, it was a slow burning plot, but with a twisted ending!
I was quite surprised with this read, in the beginning everything points at Callie as she is totally obsessed with her sister and her new boyfriend, Felix. Callie even makes a diary and follows her sister! So we start doubting if she is really seeing psychological/physic abuse between them or she loves being tragic. So while Callie enters to the disturbing world of abusers and victims needing to escape, she becomes paranoid and neurotic and maybe seeing signs that doesn't exist?
While we are reading the story, we learn the past of the two sisters too, and it seems that the pattern is repeating... will Callie be able to help Tilda before it's too late?
This had been a brilliant read, original and with an unsettling atmosphere that keeps you guessing all the book. I highly recommend you to read this book, because after all the turns it has it will leave no one indifferent!
Ready for a trip to the dark side?

Tomica - Dream, Happy 50 Years In Japan - SNOOPY

As you know I am a Snoopy fan, it's my favourite character and I am always searching for new and original products where Snoopy is on it. So today I want to share with you the Japanese brand Tomica, I am not sure if you know it, it's like the Hot Wheels but from Japan. They have some cool designs, I bought a few designs while I was in Japan on December, but the Dream, Happy 50 Years In Japan - SNOOPY it's new from this January, so I have bought it online. There are a lot of sellers in Ebay, or on the original Tomica shop (it's not so expensive!).
The funny thing of this blind box, of course is that you don't know which design is inside, you have to open it! I have to say that I loved all the designs I could find inside the box...

But you have to admit that the one I have is really, really cute! ;)

El mercat és el dimarts,               In the market is Tuesday.
El dimarts en compra naps...               On Tuesdays she buys turnips.
Llums, naps!               Lights, turnips!

O lai, là, la masovera, la masovera,               O lai, là, the farmer, the farmer,
la masovera se'n va al mercat               the farmer goes to the market
El mercat és el dimecres,                In the market is Wednesday,
El dimecres compra nespres...               On Wednesday she buys loquat
Llums, naps, nespres!               Lights, turnip, loquats!
